Aerospace Manufacturing at Rolls-Royce

Tour Details:

  • Requirements: Must be a US Citizen (with proof of citizenship upon arrival), wear closed toed shoes, and attendees cannot be on crutches.

SMC Manufacturing Operations Tour – IDI Composites International, Noblesville, IN

Tour Details:

  • Capacity: 30

  • Duration: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

  • Address: 15389 North Pointe Boulevard Noblesville, IN 46060

  • Cost: $75

Tour will take approximately 1 hour and cover the following:

  1.  3i Analytical lab: A brief description of our various lab instruments and what they do / when we use them.

  2.   Resin Tank Farm: Go over our resin systems and additives.

  3.   SMC glass delivery: Highlight our unique way to deliver glass to our SMC lines.

  4.  SMC Compounding: See the SMC line and how it runs, where the resin and pigments are mixed / any additional additives now added in the tank farm areas, and how the glass is coated in paste.

  5.  Maturation Room: The last step in the SMC process is maturing the material in a warm environment. Each formulation has differing maturation cycles. In this room, we will also show our automated guided vehicle material movement system.

  6.  Overview of BMC area: This will be a brief stop to show that we also manufacture BMC materials. This stop will be at our mixers for BMC material.

  7.  Meet back in the training room after the tour for additional Q&A.

Purdue's Composites Manufacturing & Simulation Center Experience

Come experience the Composites Manufacturing and Simulation Center at Purdue University, where we specialize in simulation for composites manufacturing and performance. Tour our 15,000 sqft of laboratory facilities, featuring emerging manufacturing technologies in Large Scale Additive Manufacturing, Advanced Fiber Placement, in-situ Space Manufacturing, and high-rate Thermoplastic Stamp Forming. Learn about physics-based and artificial intelligence-enabled simulation tools for manufacturing and performance across the aerospace, automotive, and wind energy industries. This tour is a 2-1 as this tour is a full-day experience! Lunch will be included as well.

Please note that as a 2-1 experience, this will count as your 1 complimentary tutorial and 1 complimentary tour.
