One of the most anticipated experiences at SAMPE 2026 Seattle is the return of SAMPE’s exclusive technical tours, and this newly announced visit to the Boeing 777 program offers an extraordinary look inside one of the most advanced composite manufacturing facilities in the world.
Attendees will travel to Everett, Washington, to tour the Boeing 777 final assembly line and the Composite Wing Center (CWC), where the composite wings for the 777X, the longest wings Boeing has ever built, are manufactured and assembled. This is a rare opportunity to see advanced materials, automation, and large-scale aerospace manufacturing operating at full industrial scale.
The Composite Wing Center encompasses more than 27 acres under one roof, roughly the equivalent of 25 football fields; the 1.3-million-square-foot facility was purpose-built for next-generation composite aircraft structures. It houses three of the world’s largest autoclaves, each large enough to fit two 737 fuselages inside, underscoring the immense scale required to produce the 777X composite wings.
Opened for full production in July 2020, the $1 billion facility supports manufacturing of the 777X family, and represents a real-world case study in advanced composites, process control, factory layout, and production scalability.
